Gifts from pharmaceutical companies

Reference: al-Fataawa ash-Shar’iyyah ‘alal-Mushkil fil-Masaa.il at-Tibbiyyah – Question 19, Page 48

Question: Some Pharmaceutical Companies give medical personnel from doctors to regular staff airline tickets and undertake the expenses for [their] attending medical forums and seminars in Europe, America and other countries with the intention that (by doing all this for them) they will attain the approval of the doctor and staff for the acceptance (purchase) of medicines [from their company] into their Hospital. So what is the ruling [regarding this]?

Response: This is not permissible because it is a form of bribery.
