Wearing expensive sunglasses

Reference: Majallah ad-Da’wah – Question 9, 23 Shawwaal 1428

Question: Some of the youth wear expensive sunglasses [some of] which may [even] be encrusted with diamonds or [small] nuggets of silver, so what is the ruling regarding that?

Response: It is permissible to wear sunglasses out of necessity, however, it is disliked to over-indulge and buy expensive sunglasses which are excessive in their make-up.
