Shaykh Dr. ‘Aasim al-Qaryooti said:

And it is from falsehood to have someone else make istikhaarah for him, and wait to see something in a dream which would guide him to do [something] or leave [it].

And the hadeeth links the affair to the person in need [of guidance], as it states:

«If any one of you is concerned about a decision he has to make, then let him pray two rak’ahs of non-obligatory prayer, then say…» [transmitted by al-Bukhaaree, no.6841]

…and not other than the him.

He is a graduate of the Islaamic University of Madeenah, having graduated from the Institute of Arabic Language, and later the Faculty of Sharee'ah in 2004. He currently resides in Birmingham, UK.
