Praying taraaweeh at home

Reference: Fataawa al-Lajnah ad-Daa.imah lil-Buhooth al-‘Ilmiyyah wal-Iftaa. – Question No.6 of Fatwa No.8365

Question: Is it permissible for a man to pray the taraaweeh prayer at home during the great month of Ramadhaan, and not go to the masjid?

Response: [As a rule] it is permissible [for a man] to pray the voluntary prayer – such as the taraaweeh – at home. However, [in doing so] he will miss the excellence of the congregation[al prayer] and walking to it (the masjid). And [importantly], it is obligatory that he takes care to [attend] the obligatory prayer in congregation in the masjid.

And with Allaah lies all the success, and may Allaah send prayers and salutations upon our Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and his family and his companions.
