He was overcome with tears
I prayed the Fajr prayer behind al-Fudhayl ibn ‘Iyaadh رحمه الله, and he recited:
The Inevitable Reality al-Haaqqah 69:1 So when he reached the aayah
Tears falling on the mat during prayer
I used to hear the tears of Sa’eed ibn ‘Abdil-’Azeez falling on the mat whilst [he was] in prayer.
He broke down and wept
Yahya ibn Abi Bukayr رحمه الله narrates that he said to al-Hasan ibn Saalih رحمه الله: ‘Describe for us the description of washing the body of the deceased [in preparation for burial]…
Crying because of the fear of Allaah
When Muhammad ibn al-Munkadir رحمه الله wept, he would wipe his tears over his face and beard, saying
When the sins decrease
[Regarding] the heart, when it’s sins decrease, it’s tears will hasten.
Cried until he was overcome with tears
When ‘Abdullaah ibn ‘Umar رضي الله عنهما would recite [the aayah]
A man whose heart fills with emotion at the remembrance of the dead
Safwaan ibn Sulaym would visit [the graveyard of] al-Baqee’ over a number of days – and [in doing so] he would pass by me.
Concentration during salaah
I prayed the morning [prayer in congregation] behind al-Fudhayl ibn ‘Iyaadh, and he recited [soorah] al-Haaqqah, and when he reached His [سبحانه و تعالى] saying
Read the Qur.aan to me
The Messenger of Allaah ﷺ said to me:
Read the Qur.aan to me. I said: O Messenger of Allaah, you want me to read [the Qur.aan] to you, when it was revealed to you? He ﷺ said
