I used to hear the tears of Sa’eed ibn ‘Abdil-’Azeez falling on the mat whilst [he was] in prayer.
Describe for us the description of washing the body of the deceased [in preparation for burial]…
It reached me that the Fire will not harm the area which has been touched by the tears [which flowed due to the fear of Allaah].
[Regarding] the heart, when it’s sins decrease, it’s tears will hasten.
…he would cry until he was overcome with tears.
They are all his family, and his brothers; he is a man whose heart fills with emotion at the remembrance of the dead, whenever he feels hardness [in his heart].

O Messenger of Allaah, you want me to read [the Qur.aan] to you, when it was revealed to you?
The Messenger of Allaah ﷺ kissed ‘Uthmaan ibn Magh.dthoon whilst he [lay there before him] – dead, and [as he did so] his tears fell upon the cheek of ‘Uthmaan ibn Magh.dthoon.
