He refused to take it

Abu Ismaa’eel at-Tirmidhee said:

A man came to Ahmad ibn Hanbal with 10,000 [deenaars] of profit from his trade, and he refused [to take] it.

It was said that [when] Sayrafee had [also] given Ahmad [ibn Hanbal] 500 deenaars, he refused [to take] it.

He is a graduate of the Islaamic University of Madeenah, having graduated from the Institute of Arabic Language, and later the Faculty of Sharee'ah in 2004. He currently resides in Birmingham, UK.
