The legislated morning and evening supplications

Reference: Sharh ‘Umdatil-Fiqh – Tape No.10, Question No.49

Question: Whoever utters the [legislated] morning and evening supplications, and then blows into his cupped hands, and thereafter wipes his hands over his body – is doing this something which is legislated?

Response: No, [blowing into his cupped hands and thereafter wiping them over his body] is specific to when [uttering the legislated supplications just before] sleeping; this is what the Prophet ﷺ did when he was about to sleep. As for [blowing into his cupped hands and thereafter wiping them over his body after uttering] the [legislated] morning and evening supplications, then I do not know that he ﷺ did that.
