Question: Is burying the deceased in a coffin an innovation?
Response: Usually the deceased is shrouded and buried in a shroud, as for the coffin, then there is no basis for this and if some people do so then it is a detestable innovation which the companions did not do with the Prophet ﷺ, nor with other than him from the Muslims.
