Combining the prayers when she returns home from work

Reference: Sharh ‘Umdatil-Fiqh – Tape No.4, Question No.32

Question: This woman is from Russia, and she has recently embraced Islaam. She says that she works amongst the disbelievers, and [as a result] she does not pray until [she returns home in] the evening, whereby she combines all of the prayers. So what is the ruling regarding her combining all the prayers?

Response: This is not permissible. Each prayer must be prayed at it’s appointed time, and as a Muslim, it is not permissible for her to remain [in her job] working amongst the disbelievers [if she is unable to pray]; she should [therefore] find another job [where she is able to pray, bearing in mind Allaah ‘Azza wa Jall says]:

{And whoever fears Allaah – He will make for him a way out. And will provide for him from where he does not expect} – soorah at-Talaaq, aayahs 2-3

…otherwise, she should work alongside the Muslims in her land.
