Question: Is the one who prays twenty rak’ahs for the taraaweeh prayer considered to have opposed the Sunnah?

Response: If we pray twenty rak’ahs for the taraaweeh prayer then we are considered to have opposed the Sunnah, that is because we know the Sunnah [is not so]. As for the one who thinks the [taraaweeh] prayer is twenty rak’ahs, then we say to him you have opposed the Sunnah.
