Shaykh ‘Abdul-‘Azeez ibn Baaz said:

So my sincere advice to every believer – male and female – is to humble themselves to Allaah (’Azza wa Jall) and to pray to Him with devotion and sincerity for him to reach this noble month and to aid him in his fasting and standing in prayer out of sincere faith and hoping [to attain Allaah’s rewards], and to pay attention to repentance, renewing repentance before the arrival of this noble month, so that [when] the month of Ramadhaan arrives upon you, you are free from your sins.

Allaah wipes them through sincere repentance.

Then a sincere determination to be upright in Ramadhaan and to stay away from everything that Allaah (’Azza wa Jall) has forbidden.

This is how a believer should [be], that he makes a sincere determination, to strive hard during Ramadhaan and to protect his limbs from what Allaah has forbidden, and to increase in goodness during the day and night.

Then, another sincere determination not to return to sins after Ramadhaan and to resolve that he will continue to do good deeds in Ramadhaan and at other times [thereafter], as he does not know when his time will end.

So let him resolve to do good, and do righteous deeds, perhaps he will succeed and become righteous [for] when the appointed time comes upon him.

May Allaah grant everyone success and guidance, and grant all Muslims everywhere [the towfeeq] to fast during this great month, and to stand in prayer [during it] and grant them eemaan and hope [to attain His rewards] and devotion and sincerity, and hastening towards [doing] all that is good.
