The good of hadeeth

Reference: Siyar A’laam an-Nubalaa v7 p242-243

On the authority of Yahyaa ibn Abi Bukayr رحمه الله, who said it was said to Sufyaan ath-Thowree رحمه الله:

‘Until when will you [continue to] seek [knowledge of] hadeeth?’

He said: ‘And what better good is there than the good of hadeeth, such that I may pursue it? Indeed, [knowledge of] hadeeth is the best of [all] the knowledge of this world.’
