az-Zibruqaani said: I was with Abu Waa.il [Shaqeeq ibn Salamah], and I began cursing al-Hajjaaj and mentioning his misdeeds. He (Abu Waa.il) then said [to me]:
Don’t curse him. How do you know he hasn’t asked Allaah to forgive him, and He has [since] forgiven him.
