We see some people when they need to break [away from] their prayer [short] for some emergency, or to join [the congregation when] the imaam [is about to start the prayer], or if they have invalidated their prayer – they do the tasleem. So is this act [of theirs] correct, or will the intention [to terminate the prayer] suffice?

Forgot to make the intention before prayer
Whilst in mid-prayer, if he remembered [not having made] the intention, is it sufficient that he then makes the intention whilst he is praying?
Wash your hands of him!
If you see a man who is careless in [catching] the first takbeer [at the start of the congregational prayer], then wash your hands of him!

Regarding [pronouncing] the takbeer in the masaajid, should one of the people make the takbeer and [the rest of] the people [follow by] making the takbeer after him?

Regarding Bishr ibn Mansoor, it was said that he never missed the initial takbeer [upon beginning the congregational prayer].
Nor have I seen the back of a man
For fifty years, I never [once] missed the initial takbeer [upon beginning the congregational prayer], and nor have I seen the back of a man in the [congregational] prayer [since].
