Question: Is it permissible to take a maid [along] to hajj, [even though] she does not have a mahram?

Response: No.

«It is not permissible for a woman who believes in Allaah and the Last Day to travel beyond three [days] without a mahram» – and in a narration «a day and a night».

[So] this is not permissible. And this is from the problems [which occur] now[adays]; they bring maids [from abroad] without their mahram, and [as a result] many problems ensue – [the extent of] which none but Allaah (’Azza wa Jall) [truly] knows.

And from amongst these problems are looking and touching – irrespective of whether it is by the maid or those she serves; so he travels with her, and goes out with her, and disappointingly [this is the case] even amongst those who are religious.
