The manner of greeting the deceased individual

Question: What is the authentically legislated manner in which the deceased individual is to be greeted; is he to be approached from the direction of his face? And in which direction should he be supplicated for?

Response: [He is to be greeted] just as you greet the living, approaching his face and you extend the greeting to him [by saying]:

…and he should supplicate [to Allaah] for him, whilst facing him.

He is a graduate of the Islaamic University of Madeenah, having graduated from the Institute of Arabic Language, and later the Faculty of Sharee'ah in 2004. He currently resides in Birmingham, UK.
