Question: I am one of the imaams of the masaajid, and hope you can answer some of these questions [So] he says, what is the ruling regarding the prayer [performed] in rows which are disconnected?

Response: It is not permissible to disconnect the rows; it is imperative to connect the rows, and fill the gaps and complete [the rows], just as the Prophet ﷺ commanded [us] with that.

The Prophet ﷺ would be concerned about [connecting and straightening] the rows; [so] before he started the prayer he would be concerned about the rows, establishing them, and encouraging [the congregation] in straightening them and filling [all] the gaps; the matter of [taking care in properly establishing] the rows, [making sure they are connected and straight] is very important.
