My beautiful Qur.aan recitation

Question: Sometimes, when I read the Qur.aan, I notice my voice is beautiful, and my recitation is good; so would this be considered to be self-amazement which nullifies deeds?

Response: This is not considered to be from self-amazement which nullifies deeds. Rather, this is from the blessings of Allaah for which a person should be pleased about, that Allaah (Ta’aala) has blessed him with a beautiful voice and a beautiful recitation.

[I say this] because some people have been denied one or the other – or even both, where their voice is not good and likewise their recitation; and there are some people who have a strong recitation and a beautiful voice. No doubt this is from the blessings of Allaah upon the believer; so he must be grateful to Allaah (Subhaanahu wa Ta’aala) for that, and it is certainly not from self-amazement if he notices his voice and recitation is at a good level.
