Question: Is it permissible for a person to supplicate for himself that he is blessed with marriage to a [particular] young lady – and [whilst supplicating] he mentions her name in his heart?

Response: Yes, it is permissible for a person to ask Allaah (Ta’aala) to facilitate marriage for him with a particular young lady, and there is no harm in him doing that. However, I advise him and the likes of him from attaching his heart to her in such a manner that fitnah is feared from.
