The valid time period for the ‘aqeeqah sacrifice

Question: Is the duration [within which the] ‘aqeeqah [is to be carried out] a week, two weeks or 21 days as is said? And is it correct to slaughter the ‘aqeeqah on the 9th or 10th day for example?

Response: That which is best is for it to be [carried out] on the 7th day as occurs in the hadeeth. And if missed, then the people of knowledge have mentioned that it can be done on the 14th day; And if [again] missed, then [it can be done] on the 21st day. Thereafter, not to be pursued weekly [such as on the 28th day or the 35th day and so on]. And this [recommendation] is [only] from the aspect of that which is best. So if he slaughtered it on the 6th, or the 5th or the 10th or [even] the ninth day, then there is no harm in that.
