Using a condom

Reference: Sharh ‘Umdatil-Fiqh – Tape No.6, Question No.15

Question: In pharmacies they sell condoms which are worn over the male genital, which allows him to engage in sexual relations with his wife to prevent a[ny possible] pregnancy. So if he uses a condom, is he [still] required to have a bath [or shower]?

Response: We have already responded to this, and previously said that if he ejaculates, then he is required to have a bath [or shower]. So long as he ejaculates, whether he is wearing a condom or not, or whether he has sexual relations or not – then, so long as he ejaculates with desire, he is required to have a bath [or shower].
